FAQs
|
| |
How can your e-commerce solution work with my existing ERP system ?
We use C# to write server side programs that can interface with your existing
ERP system. Data access is done using a Microsoft data gateway.
Once a DBMS connection is made data access is provided by standard
SQL statements usually in the form of stored procedures.
|
| |
How long would it take for our site to be up and running ?
Usually 3-6 months.
|
| |
Can you provide web art ?
Yes. We have web artists, but you should have an idea of what you want the site to look like.
|
| |
Why would I want to use C# for my site ?
C#.NET and VB.NET are the fastest way to develop websites. This has been documented in impartial
studies. We have worked in C#.NET, Java and Perl. C#.NET and VB.NET are the fastest web development
environments available.
|
| |
Can I support the site after you leave ?
We have designed our solution for this eventuality. You own the source code. A basic
understanding of HTML are the only requirements for maintaining the site after
we are done.
|
| |
Should I host the site or not ?
That depends on a lot of factors. Do you have network people that have the skills to support
a web server and a database server ? If you have an existing ERP system that needs to be
in the mix, how will data be accessed from a remote web server ? Do you want a dedicated
line between the web site provider and your WAN/LAN ? Can the data be mirrored on the remote site
and new data FTPed every once in a while ?
|
| |
Should I use my ERP vendor's e-Commerce solution ?
If your vendor has a good solution, this is probably a good choice. Many ERP vendors are
struggling with web technologies. They might not have the right talent to do the job right.
|
| |
Is your company large enough and experienced enough to handle my size project ?
Yes. Sometimes, we have to add contractors to handle very large projects. We have only
experienced software developers. The average experience level of our people is 10 years.
|
| |
If, initially, I only want to add my catalog to the Internet, can you do this ?
Yes. Sometimes a phased approach is best.
|
| |
Can you give a fixed price for our project ?
Yes. This is usually done with an hour or two meeting where we find out the scope of your
project.
|
| |
What is the average cost for developing an e-Commerce site ?
Our smallest project has been $ 10,000. Our largest has been $ 350,000.
|
| |
Will you train our employees to maintain the site ?
Yes. That would be an item included in your proposal.
|
| |
How detailed are your proposals ?
Very detailed as to the specific requirements of your project.
|
| |
At the end of the project, who owns the source ?
You do. However, we are constantly adding new functionality to our applications. There are
certain areas of the code for you to maintain and certain areas of common functionality that
we maintain for you.
|
| |
What kind of documentation do we receive at the end of the project ?
A full technical specification for the program. A user requirements document can be prepared
if requested.
